Eve

~inspired by human weakness in the face of temptation~

God awakens me,

To streaming russet locks,

Waving down past supple skin,

I am lost at sea.

God awakens me,

To murky pearls,

Like fogged windows,

Shedding partial light,

On such misty tales of the soul,

I peer to quench this burning thirst.

God awakens me,

To ruby lips,

Within them,

Desire is defined,

Like forbidden fruit,

You devour my every sane thought,

I am in control no longer.

God awakens me,

To the irresistible taste of sin,

To the temptation of human weakness,

Wisdom falls helpless,

To the bite of the serpent,

As it whispers in my ears,

Sweet satisfaction,

Unveiling the shameful sinner.
